The 8(a) Development Program
After a grueling application process, on March 17, 2009, Team Henry Enterprises, LLC was notified that they were among the most recent group of firms to be selected to participate in the coveted SBA 8(a) Development Program.
The 8(a) Development Program is a business development program created to help small disadvantaged businesses compete in the American economy and access the federal procurement market. The program is nine years in length, the first 4 years is considered “the developmental phase” and the final 5 years are termed “the transition phase.”
It is the intent of the program that all firms will successfully graduate from the program and be able a viable and valuable entity that will be able to compete for federal procurements against large businesses.
There are several benefits associated with the program to include, mentor/protégé program, sole source contracts under $3.5 million, access to federal surplus inventory, and the technical and financial assistance provided by the Small Business Administration.
